Experience

Mr. Lee specializes in international intellectual property, trade secrets, competition and customs matters. His emphasis is on patent, trademark, and copyright prosecution, infringement litigation, licensing negotiation and trade secrets protection. He is the co-founder of Intellectual Property Law Group LLP with locations in San Jose (Silicon Valley), Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, and Washington D.C.

After serving as an Extern Clerk for the Honorable Magistrate Judge Joan S. Brennan at the U.S. Federal District Court in San Francisco, Mr. Lee started his legal career at Sheldon & Mak*, a 20-attorney intellectual property law firm based in Pasadena, California. He worked on a wide range of intellectual property matters on behalf of clients including Apple Computer*, Atlantic Richfield (ARCO)*, Beckman Instruments*, Southern California Edison (SCE)*, in addition to many other international companies.

Mr. Lee joined Intel Corporation* as Senior Attorney - Intellectual Property where he was directly responsible for trademark matters for five Intel divisions. He negotiated intellectual property agreements with corporations including Microsoft*, Sun Microsystems* and IBM*. He assisted business units to develop branding strategies, and managed outside counsels in over eighty countries to establish and enforce Intel’s trademark rights worldwide. During his tenure, he received the coveted Intel Division and Individual Recognition Awards in 1997.

Prior to embarking upon his legal career, Mr. Lee served active duty in the U.S. Navy as a Supply Corps Officer on board a cruiser based in Norfolk, Virginia where he was in charge of over fifty sailors. He holds the rank of Commander in the United States Naval Reserve and is the Executive Officer of a Naval Aircraft Carriers Reserve Unit based in San Diego.

Active in his local community, Mr. Lee currently serves as a Councilmember of the City of Sunnyvale located in the Heart of the Silicon Valley. Previously, he served as a Planning Commissioner responsible for reviewing building and land use issues. He recently served as Sunnyvale’s 57th Mayor in 2008. Mr. Lee speaks three Chinese dialects (Cantonese, Mandarin, Shanghainese) and Spanish.
